We are hosted our 3rd European conference in the capital of Spain - La villa de Madrid. This year it was a great opportunity to see familiar faces as well as to meet new people in the SBB steel community. The venue we have chosen is one of the most modern convention centres in Europe, and we are expecting a strong turnout of over 200 delegates.

This year's European conference was a great opportunity to find out what is happening in Europe's steel market. The discussion will focused around a number of key issues.

  • Europe’s steel industry continues to enjoy strong market conditions, but is being increasingly challenged by Chinese imports. 2007 looks to be a crucial year in terms of the volume of this inward trade, but how will European steel react to it?

  • Macro economic and political factors, like manufacturing migration and climate change, continue to impose changes on steel's agenda

  • It will also be the first full year that the effects of major industry consolidation will be apparent.

  • And strong results have raised stakeholder expectations, so steelmakers need to be putting strategies in place to minimise the impact of the next downturn

If you didn't have the opportunity to make it to our European conference this year, SBB has lots of great events, such as our next confernece, SBB Steel Markets Middle East on 2-3rd September, 2007, Duabai.

Further details  on the program, topics, speakers, and delegates will be available soon.  For further event details please click here.
